HOLA!!!!!
This past weekend, we were livin' the good life.  We headed out of Guatemala City by plane at 5am in the morning on Friday and got to Tikal 2 hours later.  We took a tour van to Tikal National Park where we spent the morning and afternoon.  The park was filled with facinating pyramids and nature.  We got to climb several of the pyramids and for all you Star Wars fans (Taylor), we climbed Temple Four which was where one of the battle scenes in the 6th movie was filmed! After four hours of walking around the park we were tired and ready for lunch.  We ate at a restaurant in the park and the food was spectacular, especially since the last food we had was at 5am in the morning.  I had a cold and my nose had been running all day, so when I saw the picante sauce I decided to put two spoonfuls it in a tortilla to see if it would help clear me up.  Needless to say once I got past the inital shock of how spicy it was, I no longer had problems with my nose the rest of the weekend.  Finally after lunch we headed to Gringo Perdido (the name of our ecolodge which translates to lost gringo) where the view of the lake was beautiful.  We were basically at a resort, as the food was plentiful and delicious, and our cabanas were right on the lake!  We spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and relaxing lakeside!  On Saturday we relaxed the whole day and pretty much did nothing all day.  This was a much needed time of relaxation and recharging after our first four weeks here in Guatemala!  On Sunday, Rach, Tay, Heather and I decided to cross the lake in a three person kayak.  Only thing I have to say from that is good thing Tay is small!!!  It was a good workout for Rach and me because we paddled against the wind for quite some time.
Yesterday for Valentines day, we had a competítion between spanish classes and Tay and I wrote a poem for ours.   If any of you read my poems I write in English, imagine something simliar but about ten times funnier.  When we presented it to everyone here at the Seminary, we used hand motions to show off our biceps, where we had drawn large heart tatoos.
We also celebrated with our whole group.  Two weeks ago we drew someone´s name out of a hat and we had to buy them something.  Rach and I were thrilled yesterday when our valentines bought us oreos and peanut butter!  I guess people here know us better than we thought!! It has been a great week and I need to go know because we are celebrating birthdays! CAKEEEEEEEEE!!!
Love and Peace,
Laura
