Hello from Mexico!
Sorry it has been quite a while since we have updated our blog.  We enjoyed our last weekend with our families and it was difficult to say goodbye to them, but exciting to open a new chapter of this journey.   We along with four other friends went to Tela, Honduras for a week of relaxation in the sun.  We took one exciting excursion to Punta Izopo which was a river filled with wildlife.  We got to kayak through mangroves; however, we did not see many animals because we were with 18 loud Canadian teenagers.  We then explored a Garifuna village which was an eye opening experience.  Their culture was very different than what we are accustomed to as they freely shook their booties.  The rest of the week, we chilled by the beach and made our own food in our kitchen (just to make our moms proud).  It was a fourteen hour bus ride back to Guatemala City and then one day of relaxation at the school before we headed to Mexico.
Once here in Mexico we were introduced to our families right away.  Taylor is living with another group member and she enjoys her mother a lot.  Her house is modern and spacious, and the meals are delicious.  Rachel and I live together with another student, and our mother is the cutest little old lady who today called us her "Barbies".  Our house consists of Spanish architecture, high ceilings, paintings throughout the house painted by our mother, and a rooftop for tanning :) We were very excited when our mothers called each other to set up a play date because we lived very close to one another.  All day Sunday we walked arond the city of Puebla which is much safer than Guatemala City.  The architecture here is beautiful and the city is filled with markets and many cafes.  If I make it back to the States without spending more than a hundred dollars here it will be a miracle.  Today was the first day of classes and it seems as though this program is going to be more intensive than the one in Guatemala.  Hopefully when we come back to the States we will all be fluent!
If anyone wants to chat with us, just tell us a time and we will try to accomodate because we have a lot more computer access here!
With love,
Three Amigas :)
